At least six people including three teenagers died in six districts on Monday, with symptoms that match Covid-19 infection.
In all of the cases, samples have been taken of the deceased and their respective family members to check whether they contracted the disease. The houses, areas were declared locked down to prevent others from contracting the disease.
In Kurigram, a Tangail returnee died with Covid-19 like symptoms in Masterpara village of Ulipur upazila on Sunday, confirmed Durgapur UP chairman Abed Ali Sarker.
"The man returned from Tangail a week ago and was told to remain isolated in home-quarantine. After he died, he was buried on Monday by police and health officials, maintaining all protocols."
"We collected samples of the deceased and his family. Whether he was Covid-19 positive or not can only be known after the test results come out," said Subhas Chandra Sarker, Ulipur Health and Family Planning official.
In Panchagarh, an SSC examinee named Habibur Rahman Rajib, 16, was suffering from covid-19 alike symptoms and died on MOnday in Gaighata village of Boda upazila.
The deceased, Rajib had come in contact with his Malaysia returnee brother three months ago and also with a Dhaka-returnee which might be the reason for his contracting the disease, said UNO Md Solemon Ali.
He said: "Rajib and his family's samples have been collected and he will be buried maintaining WHO protocol for the safety of area residents.
The house has been locked down, added the UNO.
In Rajshahi, a woman suffering from breathing difficulties, diarrhoea, fever etc, died being transferred from one medical facility to another.
The deceased, Purnima Khatun, 35, was taken to Mohanpur Upazila Health Complex around 10pm Sunday, as her condition was worsening, family sources said.
"When her breathing difficulties could not be treated by us, we decided to transfer the patient to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital and she died on the way, early morning on Monday, " said Dr Ariful Kabir, Health and Family Planning official of the medical centre.
"We have taken her sample to check if she contracted the virus and will comment on the matter after we receive the result," the doctor added.
In Jhalokathi, another SSC examinee died with breathing difficulties in Nalchiti upazila on Monday.
"We suspect the deceased 16-year-old girl might have died after suffering a cardiac arrest on Monday," said Dr Munibor Rahman Jewel, residential medical officer of Nalchiti Upazila Health Complex.
He said despite their take on the cardiac arrest they have collected her samples and sent it to a Barisal Hospital to be absolutely sure of the disease.
In Lakshmipur, a Dhaka returnee teenager died on Monday in Char Afzal of Ramgati upazila, with symptoms that match with Covid-19.
The deceased, Rajib Hossain, 18, was a hotel assistant in Dhaka. Feeling ill he returned to his home in the district, sources said.
Ramgati Police OC Md Solaiman said:" Samples from Rajib and ten of his family, have been collected to determine if they contracted the disease. They are also in home quarantine until the results come out to be negative."
In Moulvibazar, a 18-year old man suffering from fever and jaundice died in Sagornal union in Juri upazila, said Upazila Health Complex RMO Priyo Joti Ghosh." Samples were collected to test for coronavirus."
