Three doctors from the Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Memorial KPJ Specialized Hospital AND Nursing College --who were directed to be in home-quarantine-- have tested positive for the coronavirus on Tuesday.
Of them, the first infected doctor is a consultant of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Department, second one is from the Radiology Department and the other doctor is a specialist of Nephrology Department, confirmed Dr Rajib Hasan, director of the hospital.
“The doctors were feeling unwell, and thus we prescribed them to be at home-quarantine since April 6,” said Rajib.
“Afterward, when they contacted us of having coronavirus alike symptoms we sent their samples to the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control And Research (IEDCR) on Sunday, they were tested positive for the deadly virus,” he added.
The hospital authority sent samples of 21 people who came into contact with three doctors and 15 were tested negative. Among which six of the reports are yet to be received, hospital authority said.
The three doctors are well and taking proper medication at home, while the rest of the operation of the hospital is ongoing, said the director of the hospital.
He assured Dhaka Tribune and confirmed that enough safety measures have been taken and there is no reason for the patients or the doctors to be panicked as everything is under control.
