3 die with coronavirus symptoms, lockdown enforced

Three people with coronavirus symptoms died in Netrokona , Comilla, and Bagerhat on Sunday, forcing administration to enforce lockdowns.

A woman with coronavirus symptoms died at her home in Purbadhala upazila of Netrokona on Sunday.

The woman, suffering from fever, cough, respiratory problems and diarrhea, for four days, breathed her last around 4 am on Sunday, reports our correspondent Hanif Ullah Akash.

Confirming the matter, upazila health officer Mahmuda Akhtar said health authorities collected samples from the deceased to test for coronavirus.

Meanwhile, three families around the deceased's home were locked down, confirmed Morsheda Khanam, Additional Superintendent of Police (Netrokona and Purbadhala circle).

A farmer, suspected of coronavirus infection, died in Daudkandi upazila of Comilla district on Sunday.

The 55 year-old man, suffering from cold, fever, and shortness of breath, died around 8am on Sunday nine hours after his house went into lockdown, reports our correspondent Masud Alam.

Daudkandi upazila health official Dr. Shahinur Alam Sumon said: "We will collect samples and send them to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) to test for coronavirus." 

A Jamaat leader with coronavirus symptoms died undergoing treatment at a hospital in Khulna on Sunday morning.

The 60 year old, suffering from shortness of breath, fever, chest pain and diarrhea, lived in Rampal upazila of Bagerhat district, reports our correspondent Asaduzzaman Sardar. 

Rampal upazila health officer Sukanto Kumar Pal said: "The deceased was buried without informing the health administration. However, we have quarantined the family of the deceased."

Mayor Ivy wants curfew in Narayanganj 

Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy urged the authorities concerned, including Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, to impose a curfew in the city  to curb the spread of coronavirus.

A press release, signed by NCC Chief Executive Officer Abul Amin, was issued in this regard, on Sunday.

The press release also stated that if a curfew or complete lockdown is not imposed right now in Narayanganj, the situation may go out of control.

Meantime,  Narayanganj Sadar upazila administration on Sunday placed Kutubpur village under lockdown after a Tablighi Jamaat member tested positive for coronavirus in the area.

Sadar upazila Nirbahi officer (UNO) Nahida Barik confirmed the matter, reports our correspondent Shamima Rita.

Nahida said: The man was affected with cough, cold, and fever after he returned from Tablighi Jamaat's congregation. Later, health authorities found the man tested positive for coronavirus, forcing the administration to declare a lockdown."

The patient is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhaka and she added: " We will give all out help to the villagers during the lockdown."

The local administration put Singair municipality of Manikganj district under lockdown after a man tested positive for coronavirus. 

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Runa Laila made the announcement around Saturday midnight after learning about the new COVID-19 case, reports our correspondent Motiur Rahman. 

She said the patient, a resident of Nagarkanda upazila of Faridpur, came to Azimpur of the municipality to attend a religious gathering of Tabligh.
