A Jubo League leader was killed by unknown assailants at Headmanpara area in Kaptai upazila of Rangamati.
The incident took place around 11:30pm on Wednesday.
The deceased Usui Prue Marma is the Jubo League vice president of Ward No 3 in Chitmarm union. He had a wife and was a father of a minor.
Quoting locals, Chandroghona police station OC Ashraf Uddin said a gang of unidentified indigenous people took Usui to Chitmarm Headmanpara area and shot him there.
After the incident, members from the police, army and Border Guard Bangladesh recovered his body and brought to police station around 3am on Thursday.
The body was sent to Rangamati General Hospital and a case is yet to be filed in connection with the incident, added OC Ashraf.
Local Awami League leaders demanded exemplary punishment for the culprits and swift action from the local administration in recovering illegal arms.
