At least Tk5 lakh worth of surgical products were burned to ashes in a fire incident at a drug store's warehouse in Jessore on Friday.
Bangladesh Chemist and Druggist Association's President AM Jamal Uddin Bilu said: "The fire caught on the fourth floor of the building owned by Bangladesh Chemist and Druggist Association at 6am in the morning."
Warehouse's owner, Naba Kumar said: "We called the fire service after hearing that my warehouse caught on fire. At least Tk5 lakh worth of surgical products were burned before the fire was doused."
Jessore Fire Service Senior Station Officer Forhad Hossain said: "It took us 20 minutes to bring the fire under control after arriving at the scene. We think the fire originated from an electric short circuit."
