Trees become victims of 'personal feud' in Magura

A man has accused his rivals of cutting down 250 banana and Mahogany trees at Derua village in Magura Sadar upazila.

Yaad Ali, a farmer by profession, said he had been at loggerheads with Mohsin Biswas, an influential local, for protesting against the latter's repression on the poor villagers, reports UNB.

"Mohsin and his associates came to the orchard in the early hours of Thursday and felled 200 banana and 50 Mahogany trees,” Ali claimed, adding that he would file a case in this regard.

Mohsin could not be reached for comments.

Saidur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of the local police station, said they heard about the incident.

"We are yet to get any written complaint," he said.
