Pekua union parishad chairman arrested with firearms

A union parishad (UP) chairman from Cox's Bazar's Pekua upazila has been arrested with firearms and ammunition. Members of RAB 7 arrested Rajakhali UP Chairman Syed Nur, 52, from in front of his home on Sunday night. RAB claims Nur is a gang leader and is accused in 29 cases. He was sentenced to 30-year imprisonment in a murder case. A 7.65mm pistol, a sub-machine carbine, a revolver, a one-shooter, and seven bullets. RAB 7 Cox's Bazar camp in-charge Major Ruhul Amin said they arrested Nur with a pistol and bullets after being tipped-off about his location. “He informed us about the location of the rest of the firearms,” the RAB officer added.
