Grand finale of Hult Prize at CU 2020 held on Friday

The grand finale of Hult Prize on campus program 2020 was held at FBA auditorium of University of Chittagong (CU), around 10am on Friday. 

Among 172 participatory teams, Team Corporate Pirates won the competition through a competitive semi-final and final round. In the semi-final round there were 25 teams competing and among them six teams reached the final. 

The other finalist teams were -- Business Guy, Maxima, Chapter 18, Green Dwell and Insurrection.

A member of Corporate Pirates, Mim Maliha Nabi, said: "We had practical experience. The win was the result of good team work by a balanced team, as our team members were from different departments.

"We are representing our country on an international stage."

The winning team, Corporate Pirates, will participate in the regional round. This year the regional round of Hult Prize 2020 will be held in Dhaka, Kuala Lumpur, Sanghai, Mumbai and other destinations.

Around 14 business professionals and university faculty members were made the judges of the program. 

The business professionals were -- Confident Cement Limited Head of Supply Chain Adnanul Hadi, Start-Up Chattogram Founder Arafatul Islam, Tetra (a social business start-up) Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer Asif Hossain, NESTLE Bangladesh Limited Territory Officer Asif Siddique, OBHAI Head of Acquisition Management Trainee Humayara Momtaz, among others.

The teachers present were -- Assistant Professor Mohammad Sharfuddin Rashed and Lecturer Md Sarwar Alam of CU Management Department.

The Hult Prize at University of Chittagong 2020 Chief Organizer Umme Hafsa said: "Each year Hult Prize comes up with a new theme, this year the theme was --building start-ups which have a positive impact on our planet for every dollar earned.

"Following the theme, our participatory teams presented their ideas and among them, the best idea was selected."

The leader of the winning team said their idea was best at portraying the theme of this year.

The Hult Prize is a social enterprise, which combines an NGO and a business company. It organizes one of the largest student business competitions in the world, with around 1000 students participating from 25 countries. 

The annually held competition sources ideas from students after challenging them to solve a pressing social issue on topics like food security, water access, energy, and education.
