Four missing in Narayanganj boat capsize

At least four people went missing after a boat carrying 20-25 passengers capsized in Shitalakkhya River under Narayanganj, said river police on Tuesday night. Sub-Inspector Selim Mia of Narayanganj river police outpost said the boat started sinking while heading from Hajiganj to Nabiganj around 9pm, leaving four to five people missing. “We have launched an operation in the river in search of the missing people,” he said quoting witnesses. Meanwhile, Narayanganj Sadar police station's Officer-in-Charge Asaduzzaman said the boat, which was a small one, capsized due to its overcrowded passengers coupled with inclement weather. Most of the passengers and the crew members, except for the missing ones, managed to swim ashore, though, he added. As of 11pm, river police were trying to locate the boat and rescue the missing people.
