A 10-year-old boy has been killed in a bus accident in Kurigram.
The incident occurred at the entrance of Nageshwari upazila sadar on the Kurigram-Nageshwari link road, on Wednesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Raihan, son of Shahidul Islam from Banur Khamar village of Kurigram.
According to the protestors, a Kurigram-bound speeding bus of Arinda Paribahan ran over Raihan, killing him on the spot. The accident occured in front of the Kurigram unit office of RDRS Bangladesh .
Pedestrians blocked the road and staged protests demanding justice for Raihan, said Md Rowshan Kabir, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nageshwari police station.
OC Rowshan said: "The pedestrians blocked the road, which stopped transportation and movement on the Kurigram-Nageshwari link road for two hours."
"Police captured the bus; however, the driver and helper were on the loose, till the report was filed," he added.
The police officials are trying to clear the blockade by talking to the protestors, the OC said.
