At least 25,526 people were killed due to road accidents in the last ten years.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said this while responding to a query made by BNP lawmaker M Harunur Rashid of Chapainawabganj-3 in the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) on Wednesday.
“A total of 25,526 people were killed in road accidents in the country between January 2009 to April 2019,”said the minister.
Apart from the staggering death figures, some 19,763 people were wounded due to the accidents during this time, he added.
The Road Transport Minister, however, could not determine the actual number of cases being filed in connection with road accidents and injuries.
