Constable commits suicide in Bandarban

A police constable has shot himself to death at Bandarban’s Ghumdhum Investigation Centre, near the Bangladesh-Myanmar border. Constable Tushar Kanti Dey, 28, hailing from Chittagong’s Sitakunda, shot himself in the head with his rifle around 11:15am Friday and died on the spot. He was declared dead when taken to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital around 1:30pm. His colleagues say Tushar was depressed for the last few days over personal or family-related issues. Lama Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police Bhuiyan Mahbub Hassan said that he had also heard about Tushar’s depression.
