The relatives of a patient have vandalized Adhunik Hospital in Lakshmipur town following the death of the patient, which they allege was due to wrong medical treatment.
Rezia Begum, the patient, died in the early hours of Saturday while under the care of Dr Ishaq Bhuiyan.
According to Rezia's relatives, she was admitted to Adhunik Hospital on Friday morning with a hand injury. Ishaq, an orthopaedics doctor at the hospital, conducted an operation on her hand around 10pm on Friday.
However, Rezia did not regain consciousness following the operation.
Enraged at her death, her relatives accused Ishaq of malpractice, and went on a rampage by vandalizing the hospital around 7am on Saturday.
Later, police arrived and brought the situation under control, said Sub-Inspector of Lakshmipur Sadar police station Abdul Matin.
However, the doctor has denied claims of wrong medical treatment, adding: "After the operation, she regained consciousness when we took her to her bed, but she died shortly afterwards due to cardiac arrest."
