A suspected robber was killed in a shootout by unknown Rohingya men at Noyapara Refugee Camp in Teknaf, on Thursday morning.
The shootout took place at the H block of the refugee camp around 10:30am.
The deceased was identified as Md Hashim, 45, a noted robber living in Noyapara Rohingya camp in Teknaf.
According to locals, a group of men shot Hashim and made their escape. Locals rushed Hashim to the camp's hospital, where the doctor declared him dead.
Abdus Salam, an inspector at the Noyapara Rohingya camp police outpost, confirmed the incident and said: "The shootout might have been a result of an internal dispute between gangs of Rohingya robbers."
The body has been sent to the morgue for autopsy in a local hospital of Cox's Bazar. An investigation is underway, the inspector added.
