A three-member probe committee has been formed by the local administration to investigate a clash between villagers and members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) that left three people dead and several injured.
Headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Nur Kutubul Alam, the three-member probe body was formed on Tuesday night, confirmed Deputy Commissioner Dr AKM Kamruzzaman Selim.
Three people, including a 12-year-old boy, were killed, on Tuesday, in a clash between BGB personnel and locals of Haripur area of Thakurgaon.
Another 28 people, including two BGB troopers, were injured in the clash.

At a press briefing held at the "Leisure Canteen" in the upazila headquarter on Tuesday night, BGB officials Col Shamsul Arefin and BGB 50 Battalion Commander Lt Col Tuhin Md Masud addressed the press.
Col Shamsul said that on BGB’s way back to Betna camp—after seizing cattle that was being smuggled across the border—an armed mob attacked them, forcing BGB to open fire.
Those who were involved in instigating people to commit the violence will be brought to book after an investigation, said Tuhin.
Meanwhile, a tense situation prevails in-and-around the area, following the incident.
Additional policemen have been deployed to the area to avert further trouble, said Mohammad Amiruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Haripur police station.
