National Human Rights Commission of Bangladesh (NHRCB) Chairman Kazi Reazul Hoque has said all will have to work together to maintain communal harmony in Cox’s Bazar while dealing with the ongoing Rohingya crisis.
He made the remarks while addressing a discussion meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room, as chief guest; in Cox’s Bazar around 11am on Monday.
The event was held by the authorities concerned to further develop the state of communal harmony in the area.
The chairman said: “If people and the administration stay watchful, then none can impede the prevailing communal bond among various communities. The nation does not want to witness another incident such as the attack on Buddhist temple in Ramu; which was instigated based on false information.”
“Religious preachers will have to play an effective role in this regard. We must remember that the Rohingya crisis might not go away any time soon and we need to be careful that this issue not cause a crack in our peaceful society,” he said.
With Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Md Kamal Hossain in the chair, Cox’s Bazar Refugee Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner Abul Kalam, and other administrative officials, were present at the event.
