Narayanganj lubricant warehouse fire extinguished

The fire that broke out at a lubricant warehouse at Nandalalpur in Narayanganj’s Fatullah upazila on Saturday has been doused after around five hours of frantic effort by the fire-fighters.

Nine fire-fighting units from Dhaka and Narayanganj fire stations brought the flame under control around 5pm, said Duty Officer Kamruzzaman of Narayanganj Fire Service and Civil Defence station, reports UNB.

The fire broke out at the lubricant warehouse of RM Level around 11:15am. The warehouse was used to store highly flammable lubricant, that is why the fire spread swiftly, he said.

At least eight workers who were working inside the warehouse fell sick inhaling smoke and were taken to a local hospital.

The fire might have originated from a spark at the nearby re-rolling mills, said Mamun Mahmud, assistant director of Dhaka Fire Service and Civil Defence.
