A female SSC student in Madaripur has been hacked and injured allegedly by her former in-laws for divorcing her expatriate husband.
The victim’s mother, Mahinur Begum, on Wednesday filed a case accusing eight individuals in connection with the incident.
Madaripur Police Superintendent Subrata Kumar Haldar said the victim’s mother filed a lawsuit against her former son-in-law Romon Akan, his brother Shamon Akan, and several of their family members.
The police are trying to arrest the accused, he added.
The incident occurred on Tuesday in Jhautala area of the municipality in the district’s Kalkini upazila.
The victim, Shuktara, was taken to Kalkini Upazila Health Complex by locals. She is a student of 10th grade in the humanities section of Kalkini Pilot Girls' High School.
She was later sent to Sher-E-Bangla Medical College and Hospital in Barisal for better treatment.
