Police found the bullet-riddled body of a suspected drug trader in Cox’s Bazar town on Wednesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Jahangir Alam.
Police recovered the body from Kaltali Katpahar area of the town around 6am, along with 200 yaba tablets and a local-made gun.
Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Farid Uddin Khandakar confirmed the matter and said that upon receiving information, police recovered the body along with the contraband drugs and weapon.
Alam was notorious in the city for drug trading, mugging and terrorism, so it is suspected that he was murdered in an internal conflict regarding dominion over territory, the OC added.
The body of the victim has been sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, he said.
A case has been filed in connection with the incident,andthe police are investigating the matter, he added.
