A Jubo League member has been hacked to death in the Kamarhabad area of the sadar upazila of Barguna district.
Badsha Mridha, 30, son of Sohrab Mridha, was a member of the local Jubo League.
Locals said Badsha’s father Sohrab got into an argument with a man named Mohsin in the Kamarhabad area on Tuesday night.
As the argument heated up, Mohsin and his accomplices started beating Shorab. At one stage, they attacked Badsha with an axe while he was on his way to rescue his father.
However, Badsha managed to flee from them, and called his father on the phone to inform Sohrab about the attack on himself.
Later, locals found Badsha unconscious near a bus stand in the Kamarhabad area and took him to a hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.
Sohrab claimed: "Two men named Rakib and Zechariah murdered my sonatMohsin’sinstruction. I want justice for my son's murder."
Barguna Awami League's General Secretary Jahangir Kabir, Joint General Secretary Kamrul Ahsan Maharaj and Jubo League activist Sunaman Debnath went to the hospital upon hearing of the matter.
Barguna Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abir Mohammad Hossain said: "Police have been sent to the crime scene. We are trying to arrest the culprits.”
