13 BNP men held in connection with Noakhali Jubo League leader murder

Police in separate drives have arrested 13 BNP men in connection with the murder of local Jubo League leader Mohammad Hanif, in Noakhali Sadar upazila.

Sudharam Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Anwar Hossain said police conducted drives from Thursday night till Friday morning and arrested leaders and activists of BNP, Jubo Dal, and Sechhasebok Dal, from different parts of the upazila, reports UNB.

Earlier on Wednesday night, Aujbalia Union Parishad Jubo League Joint Convener Ariful Islam Sumon filed a case with the police station, accusing 361 leaders and activists of BNP, Jamaat, and some other unknown individuals.

Before the case was filed, on Wednesday afternoon, the police arrested six leaders and activists of BNP and its youth wing Jubo Dal, under suspicion of the murder.

So far, police have arrested a total of 22 individuals in connection with the murder, the OC added.

Mohammad Hanif, general secretary of Ward-9 Jubo League in Noakhali's Aujbalia union, was shot and hacked to death during a pre-election clash between Awami League and BNP supporters, in Aujbalia of Sadar upazila on Tuesday afternoon.
