The authorities of the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) suspended two of its teachers on Tuesday from their administrative duties on charges of sexual assault and unprofessionalism.
University Registrar Mohammad Isfakul Hossain confirmed to the Dhaka Tribune that the decision was taken at the 210th syndicate meeting of the university on Monday.
Registrar Mohammad Isfakul Hossain said a student of a department under the Faculty of Social Science registered a complaint of sexual harassment to the university authorities.
Plaban Chandra Saha, assistant proctor and assistant professor of the Department of Economics of the university has been suspended on the sexual harassment allegation.
Dr Md Shafiqul Islam, head of the Department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering, was suspended due to his "unprofessional activities," he added.
