Five drug peddlers were detained in two districts between Saturday night and Sunday morning.
In Patuakhali, a drug dealer was detained with 700 bottles of phensedyl by RAB 8 in the Paglar Mor area of Dumki upazila.
The incident occurred around 5:30am on Sunday, and was briefed in a press release at around 12:30pm.
Patuakhali RAB 8 acting company commander Md Hasan Ali said: “We received word that the dealer was in the Paglar Mor area, using a private car as a stash to sell his wares. Sensing police presence, he tried to run for it, but we captured him and his car, which had 700 bottles of phensedyl in it.”
The detained individual was 33-year-old Md Saiful Islam Russel. A case has been filed in this regard with Dumki police station.
In Jhenaidah, four drug traders were detained between Saturday night and Sunday morning from various upazilas of the district.
Jhenaidah Superintendent of Police Mizanur Rahman said: “A special drive by police resulted in the capture of four drug peddlers and a large amount of drugs.”
39 others were also detained on various charges during the drive.
