Quota protest: CU students boycott classes, exams

Students of Chittagong University boycotted all classes and examinations on Sunday, protesting Saturday's attack on members of the quota reform movement at Sholoshohor in the city.

Anwar Hossain, convener of Chittagong unit of Bangladesh General Students' Rights Protection Council – the platform of students that led the quota reform movement – said a group of students took position in city's Sholosohor area on Saturday, expressing solidarity with the central committee.

At one stage, a faction of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) launched an attack on them, leaving two of the protesters injured, he alleged.

The injured – Tofail Ahmed and Arju Mia, co-convener of the council – were given first aid.

Earlier on Saturday, at least six leaders of the central committee of the council were injured in an attack allegedly carried out by BCL activists on the Dhaka University campus.

Protesting the attack, the students' council called for an indefinite boycott of classes and examinations at all universities and colleges across the country from Sunday.
