One accused confesses involvement in Narsingdi union parishad chairman murder

One of the accused, arrested in the murder case of Narsingdi union parishad chairman Md Sirajul Haque, has given a confessional statement, says police.
Accused Abdul Ali Mridha, gave his confessional statement in writing before the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Warez Al Karni on Sunday, said Narsingdi Superintendent of Police Saifullah Al Mamun.
Earlier, police said a longstanding turf war between two local rival groups led to the brutal murder of the chairman of Banshbari union parishad in Raipura upazila.
Assailants gunned down the six-time chairman of the union at the upazila’s Arkanda village on Thursday.
The victim’s son filed a murder case with Raipura police station accusing 30 people on Friday night. So far, police have arrested two people, Mridha and Abul Kalam.
Following Mridha’s statement, police are conducting drives to arrest the other accused in the case.
