Kibria murder trial deferred for third time

Speedy Trial Tribunal Judge Moqbul Ahsan passed deferred the date for third time as all the accused were not produced in the court on Wednesday. Tribunal’s Public Prosecutor Advocate Kishore Kumar Kor said nine of the 32 charge sheeted accused were produced before the court. He said even no witness was present in the court. Earlier o January 18, recording of witness deposition was deferred for the same reason. On January 17, the trial was deferred as no witness appeared in the court. Out of 171 witnesses, a total of 43 gave deposition in the case. On November 13, 2014, police submitted a supplementary charge sheet against 35 people including 11 new in the Kibria murder case. The freshly-indicted accused included Ariful, Habiganj Mayor GK Gaus and Haris Chowdhury, former political adviser to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia. On January 27, 2005, five people, including Awami League-led government’s finance minister Kibria, were killed in a grenade attack carried out in a rally in Boidyer Bazar of Habiganj.
