Tilagarh Central Chhatra League has called for an indefinite strike at Sylhet MC College and Sylhet Government Degree College starting Monday to protest the murder of fellow activist Tanim Khan.
Tanim was a second-year student Sylhet Government Degree College and a member of the ruling party student wing.
On Monday morning, a group of Chhatra League activists blocked a road near MC College and postponed academic activities of both the colleges. They demanded the immediate arrest of Tanim's killers.
An interim exam of Honours was also cancelled due to the strike.
Extra law enforcement officials have been deployed in the area to avoid untoward situations.

Akter Hossain, OC of Shahporan police station, said: “Students of MC college and government degree college have been observing the Chhatra League called indefinite strike since Monday morning.
“We have deployed additional police in the areas.”
“Police arrested three Chhatra League activists during multiple drives near Tilagarh area on Sunday. They are being interrogated in police custody,” Akter said.
However, he denied revealing the names of the arrestees due to security reasons.
On Sunday, Tanim was killed allegedly by the followers of Counselor Azad group in Taligarh Point area. Tanim was a follower of Advocate Ranjit group.
