Four suspected Myanmar spies detained in Bandarban

A team of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has detained four Myanmar nationals, believed to be spying for the neighbouring country, from Naikhongchhari upazila in Bandarban. They detainees are-- Anwar Hossain, 40, Zafor Alam, 45, Md Azmal Hossain, 40, and Md Kalu Miah, 60. All of them are residents of Fakirbazar Amtali area at Maungdaw in Rakhine state of Myanmar. Of the four, one was detained from Naikhongchhari sadar area on Wednesday and the rest trio from Ghumdhum area in the upazila on Tuesday night. “The Rohingya men were detained for their suspicious movement. After primary interrogation, evidence was found that they used to gather intelligence on the border force’s activities and send it to the authorities concerned in their home country,” BGB 31 Commander Lt Col Anwarul Azim said. The detainees were sent to Bandarban sadar for further quizzing, he added.
