Two people including Chhatra Union leader go missing

A former leader of Bangladesh Chhatra Union and one of his friends has been missing in Chittagong city since Sunday.

The victims are Ismail Azad Shakil, 28, former general secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra Union of Chittagong unit, and his friend Linkon Majumder, 28, member of Biborton Pathchakra, an organisation that works for street children, police said.

Shakil is a resident of the port city’s Ghatfarhadbeg area, while Linkon lives in Chandgaon area in the city, police added.

Shakil’s father Rafiqul Azad and Linkon’s father Shibu Majumder filed two separate general dairies with Kotwali police station in this regard on Monday night, said AKM Mohiuddin, officer-in-charge of the station.

Quoting the victims’ family members, the OC told the Dhaka Tribune that the victims went out from their respective residences on Sunday afternoon to meet Sudipta, one of their friends, and the trio met at Probortok intersection.

Later, Sudipta went back to his residence after having spent some time with them, leaving the duo in front of Afmi Plaza, said the OC.

Later, Sudipta found their mobile phones switched off since Sunday evening, the police official added.

“We are looking into the matter,” the OC said, adding they could not trace their location till last afternoon.
