Iraq to recruit 100 doctors from Bangladesh

The Iraqi government is set to recruit 100 doctors from Bangladesh under an arrangement with private recruiting agencies.

Regarding the issue, Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain, Sunday, told the Dhaka Tribune: “The Iraqi Ministry of Health has sent a letter to us, indicating that it wants to recruit 100 anaesthetists to work under the ministry.” The minister also said the private recruiting agencies would not charge high fees to the candidates as the jobs are for professional category.

Officials at the ministry said Iraqi Deputy Minister for Health, Khamees Hussein Al Sadd had issued the demand letter to a private recruiting agency. They also said a technical team headed by the deputy minister was scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on September 16 to interview the applicant doctors.

Meanwhile, the government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to send workers to the war-ravaged country which has undertaken different development programmes.

At the initial stage, Iraq will recruit 1,000 workers from Bangladesh, the minister told reporters after the signing of the MoU on August 31.
