Dengue: Death toll rises to 281 as ten more die in 24 hours

Ten people died of dengue, and 1,996 new patients were hospitalized in the country in the 24 hours until 8am on Tuesday.

With the latest fatalities, the dengue death toll has risen to 281 in the country this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Among the new deaths, three were reported in Khulna division, two in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), two in Barishal division, and one each was recorded in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and Dhaka and Rajshahi divisions.

Of the total deaths recorded this year, 47.7% were men and 52.3% were women.

Since January 1 this year, a total of 90,356 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country. Of them, 84,299 have recovered.

According to the DGHS report, so far 75 people have died in DSCC, while 55 in Khulna division, 35 in DNCC, 25 in Chittagong division, 23 in Mymensingh, 24 in Barisal, 19 in Rajshahi, 17 in Dhaka, six in Rangpur and two in Sylhet division.
