Registration for Human Papillomavirus (HPV) inoculation campaign has started as the campaign is set to be started from Sunday to prevent cervical cancer in Bangladesh.
Initially, girls in 10-14 age range and fifth to ninth graders in Dhaka division will be vaccinated at a free of cost.
Registration is required using the 17-digit birth registration number first to be inoculated.

On October 2, Health Minister Health Minister Zahid Maleque inaugurated the HPV vaccination program-2023 under the theme “Take one dose of HPV vaccine, prevent cervical cancer”.
On that day, 11 students were given this vaccine in a trial run.
The government aims to vaccinate 95% of all girls in the country.
In the first phase, a total of 2.3 million doses of HPV vaccine will be given in one dose to all the educational institutions located in all the districts, upazilas, city corporations and municipalities of Dhaka division from class VI-X or equivalent teenage students in their respective educational institutions.
Besides, non-educational girls aged between 10 to 14 years will be inoculated at existing permanent and temporary immunization centres of EPI.
This vaccination will be given in the first phase in Dhaka, in the second phase in Chittagong and Barisal. Then it will be given all over the country.
DGHS said that two million more vaccines will be available in November.
In 2024, 4.2 million more vaccines will be added. A total of one crore students will be given this vaccine.
