Bangladesh recorded nine more deaths from Covid-19 and 278 fresh cases in the 24 hours between 8am Friday and 8am Saturday.
During the same period, 294 patients also recovered across the country, taking the overall recovery rate to 97.67%.
The latest data released by the health authorities on Saturday afternoon took the nation's Covid-19 death toll to 27,814, total caseload to 1,567,417, and total recoveries to 1,530,941.
Between Friday and Saturday mornings, the test positivity rate stood at 1.85% after 15,042 samples were tested at 832 labs.
The overall infection rate in the country stood at 15.36% and the mortality rate at 1.77%.
Among the deaths reported Saturday, two each died in Dhaka, Rajshahi and Khulna divisions, and one each died in Sylhet, Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions. Of the nine, six were male and three female.
So far, Covid-19 has killed 17,814 men and 10,000 women around Bangladesh.
The country had reported four deaths and 232 cases between Thursday and Friday.
According to the health services directorate, of the total 27,814 fatalities, 12,126 deaths occurred in Dhaka Division, 5,645 in Chittagong, 2,040 in Rajshahi, 3,590 in Khulna, 945 in Barisal, 1,262 in Sylhet, 1,363 in Rangpur, and 843 in Mymensingh Division.
Of the new 278 cases, Dhaka logged 192, the highest among the divisions, followed by Chittagong with 27. No new cases were reported in 36 districts of the country.
Bangladesh reported its first three cases of Covid-19, a severe acute respiratory illness caused by a strain of coronavirus later named Sars-CoV-2, on March 8 last year. The first death was reported 10 days later.
The fast-spreading virus claimed more than 4.95 million lives after infecting more than 243 million people throughout the world until Saturday evening, according to worldometer.
More than 220.96 million people also recovered at the same time from the disease, which has affected 221 countries and territories across the planet.
