Bangladesh logs one death, 61 new Covid-19 cases

Bangladesh reported one death from Covid-19, with 61 new cases logged in the 24 hours to 8am on Monday.

According to the latest figures released by the health authorities, the overall caseload in the country now stands at 1,951,831 while fatalities at 29,123.

A total of 7,778 samples were tested across the country, for a positivity rate of 0.78%.

Another 842 people recovered from Covid across the country, taking the total recovery to 1,884,352.

The latest figures put the recovery rate at 96.54% and the mortality rate at 1.49%.

On Sunday, the country logged zero Covid-19 deaths with 56 new infections.

On March 27, Bangladesh logged its lowest daily positivity rate at 0.54%, reporting 43 cases with zero death.

The country reported the first zero Covid-related death in a single day on November 20 last year along with 178 infections since the pandemic broke out in Bangladesh in March 2020.

On January 28, Bangladesh logged its previous highest daily positivity rate at 33.37% reporting 15,440 cases and 20 deaths.
