Bangladesh’s daily coronavirus infection rate dropped to 8.71% on Saturday with 2,150 new infections reported, taking the caseload to 1,931,304.
Fatalities rose by 13 to stand at 28,944, according to figures released by the Directorate General of Health Services.
Another 7,478 people across the country recovered from the disease taking the total recovery to 1,745,332.
The latest figures put the mortality rate at 1.5% while the recovery rate at 90.37%.
Among the deceased, five were from Dhaka, four from Chittagong, one each from Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal and Rangpur.
Of them, seven were male and the rest were female.
On Friday, the country logged 24 more deaths from Covid-19 with 2,584 fresh cases. The infection rate in the country on Friday dipped below 10% for the first time since the surge in Covid-19 cases at the turn of the year.
On Thursday, Bangladesh reported 20 deaths with 3,539 fresh cases.
On January 28, Bangladesh logged its earlier highest daily positivity rate at 33.37% reporting 15,440 cases and 20 deaths.
On December 9 last year, Bangladesh again logged zero Covid-related death after nearly three weeks as the pandemic was apparently showing signs of easing.
The country reported its first zero Covid-related death in a single day on November 20 last year, along with 178 infections since the pandemic broke out in Bangladesh in March 2020.
Besides, the country registered the highest daily caseload of 16,230 on July 28 last year, while the highest number of daily fatalities was 264 on August 10 last year.
