All flights of Bangladesh Biman to Muscat have been cancelled for one week from December 22 owing to the ban imposed by the Oman government due to the Covid-19 epidemic.
Passengers of cancelled flights would be allotted seats on a priority basis subject to seat vacancy after a resumption of flights, said Tahera Khandaker, deputy general manager (public relations) of Biman, in a press release on Monday.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines also suspended all its flights bound for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) for a week as the kingdom government imposed a ban on all international commercial flights due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Bangladesh is also considering measures to stay safe from the spread of a new strain of Covid-19 in the United Kingdom.
There is one flight a week between Bangladesh and the UK, while several foreign carriers ferry passengers via different cities.
"Yes, we are aware about the spread of the new strain in the UK and we are thinking about it," Mohibul Haque, senior secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, told Dhaka Tribune on Monday afternoon.
It may be recalled that on June 16, flight operations on international routes from Bangladesh resumed after over two months of suspension.
