Bangladesh has registered 14 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours until Saturday morning, taking the number of total fatalities to 6,173.
The latest single-day body count is the second lowest since November 7 and 12 when the death count was 13.
Before that on May 12, 11 people succumbed to Covid-19 infection and since then, the daily tally never went below 13.
The country also logged more than 430,000 coronavirus cases with 1,531 people testing positive over the same period.
With the latest figure, the number of all confirmed cases so far jumped to 430,496, according to the daily virus update released on Saturday by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the 14 deceased -- 10 men and four women -- eight were from Dhaka division, two from Chittagong, and one each from Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna Rangpur, and Mymensingh.
Among the victims, 13 died at different hospitals and one at home.
So far, 4,751 men (76.96%) and 1,422 women (23.04%) have died from Covid-19 across the country.
The mortality rate against the total number of cases detected so far stands at 1.43%.
The DGHS said 11,577 samples were collected from suspected Covid-19 patients in the last 24 hours.
As many as 11,795 samples, including the pending ones, were tested in the 115 authorized labs — government and private — across the country and 1,531 new patients were confirmed.
The latest figures show an infection rate of 12.98%.
To date, 2,527,134 tests have been conducted in the country, leading to an overall infection rate of 17.03% so far.
The health authorities said 1,462 people recovered from the disease over the preceding 24 hours.
So far, 347,849 patients — 80.80% of all infected — have made full recovery across the country.
Covid-19 infection among armed forces
A total of 15,902 members of the armed forces, including those in service and retired as well as their family members, have been infected with Covid-19.
As of November 13, 20 members of armed forces and 179 retired members also died of the disease.
Out of the total patients, 15,228 have recovered and 475 are undergoing treatment at Combined Military Hospitals, the Inter Services Public Relation Directorate (ISPR) said in a statement.
Global situation
On March 8, health authorities in Bangladesh reported the first three cases of Covid-19, a severe acute respiratory illness caused by a new coronavirus strain which was later named Sars-CoV-2.
The novel coronavirus broke out in China's Wuhan city in late December last year and quickly spread throughout the world, becoming a pandemic in less than three months.
The fast spreading coronavirus has claimed 1,311,519 lives and infected 53,853,265 people across the world till Saturday afternoon, according to Worldometer.
As many as 37,593,353 people have recovered from Covid-19 which has spread to 217 countries and territories across the planet.
