Bangladesh has provided Nepal with medical and protective supplies related to the coronavirus under the Saarc Covid-19 Emergency Fund.
Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen handed over the materials to Nepalese Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr Banshidhar Mishra in Dhaka on Tuesday.
The medical supplies comprise Bangladesh-made Remdesivir injections, PPEs (personal protective equipment), hand sanitizers and floor cleaners.
The gifts have been given as a mark of friendship towards the people of Nepal on behalf of the people of Bangladesh, according to the Foreign Ministry.
Speaking on the occasion, the foreign minister talked about taking prompt actions by Bangladesh to prevent coronavirus and export of quality medicines and protective gears made in Bangladesh.
The Nepalese ambassador expressed optimism that this kind of cooperation will continue among the Saarc member states.
In March this year, the Saarc Covid-19 Emergency Fund was incepted through a videoconference among the leaders of Saarc countries.
The fund is being run by the foreign ministries of the respective countries. Bangladesh made a contribution of $1.5 million to the fund.
