Covid-19: Ministry sets new rules for health workers

The physicians, nurses, and other health workers involved in Covid-19 treatment will not be allowed to work more than 15 days at a time each month, and the rest 15 days they will be in quarantine leave, the Health Ministry has said.

The ministry issued a circular, signed by Health Services Division Secretary Md Abdul Mannan, on July 29 in this regard.

Physicians and other health workers will get accommodation facilities during the quarantine period with special allowance and food, it said.

The doctors, who are working in the Dhaka metropolitan city, will get a daily allowance of Tk2,000 while the doctors outside Dhaka will get an allowance of Tk1,800.

Nurses in Dhaka will get a daily allowance of Tk1,200, and Tk1,000 allowance for those working outside. Similarly, the health workers will get a daily allowance of Tk800 and Tk650, respectively.

None will get the allowance paid for more than 15 days in each month, the circular said.

During the quarantine, physicians and other health workers of the Dhaka metropolitan city can stay at Bangladesh Civil Service Administration Academy, Bangladesh Institute of Administration and Management (BIAM), National Academy for Planning and Development (NAPD), National Academy for Educational Management (NAEM), Govt Teachers' Training College, and National Institute of Local Government (NILG).

In districts and upazilas (outside the Dhaka city), such arrangements will be made for the frontline fighters in various government and training institutions located there in consultation with the local administration.

Doctors, nurses and other health workers who will stay at the facilities designated by the authorities must use BRTC vehicles to travel (subject to availability).

Where BRTC vehicles are not available, vehicles requisitioned or rented by the deputy commissioner can be used, it added.
