Bangladesh has recorded 37 new deaths and 3,462 new confirmed Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours.
The total number of deaths stands at 1,582 and the total number of confirmed cases at 122,660 till Wednesday.
Prof Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), revealed the figures at the daily online bulletin on the Covid-19 situation in the country on Wednesday.

Fatality rate 1.29%
Of the deceased, 28 were male and nine were female.
Ten deaths were reported from Dhaka Division, nine from Chittagong, six from Rajshahi, seven from Khulna, three from Mymensingh, and one each from Barisal and Rangpur division.
One of the deceased was between 11-20 years of age, two were between 21-30, two between 31-40, three between 41-50, 12 between 51-60, nine between 61-70, and eight between 71-80.
34 of them died while undergoing treatment at various hospitals and three passed away at home, she added.
The overall death toll now accounts for 1.29% of all infected persons recorded.

21.07% test positive in 24hrs
A total of 17,245 samples were collected and 16,433 samples were tested in the last 24 hours in 66 labs across the country.
Of them, 16,292 samples were tested at 66 authorized labs – both government and private – across the country.
With 3,462 of the tests coming back positive, the detection rate of new patients in the last 24 hours stood at 21.07%, Nasima said.
Till date, 660,444 tests have been conducted in the country, she added.

Recovery rate 40.49%
In the last 24 hours, 2,031 patients completely recovered from Covid-19.
So far, 49,666 people – 40.49% of all infected – have made full recovery from the deadly virus.
Another 749 people have been put in isolation in the past 24 hours and 518 were released from isolation. Currently, 13,158 people are in isolation.
At the same time, another 2,631 people have been put under home and institutional quarantine, and 2,817 were released. At present, 63,960 people are quarantined across the country, the Add DG added.
Covid-19 is a severe acute respiratory illness caused by the new strain of coronavirus Sars-CoV-2. The virus broke out in China's Wuhan in December 2019 and quickly spread throughout the world, becoming a pandemic in less than three months.
Till date, at least 9,380,610 people have been infected worldwide, of which 5,068,331 have recovered.
The coronavirus disease has affected 215 countries and international territories and thus far claimed 480,393 lives.
