Another doctor has died of Covid-19, taking the total number of doctors’ death to 41.
The doctor was, reports from Enam Medical College Hospital, who has been suffering from fever and cold, died on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Dr Rafiqul Haider, 52, a diabetologist and endocrinologist and son of Abu Sufiyan of Chittagong.
Dr Oheduzzaman, a relative of Dr Rafiqul, said he had been suffering from fever and respiratory problems. Later, he tested positive for coronavirus.
Wahid Sadik, a duty officer of EMCH, said Dr Rafiqul was undergoing treatment at his home and brought to the hospital on Wednesday as his health condition deteriorated. However, doctors declared him dead as soon as he arrived at the hospital.
Dr Rafiqul was a student of Sylhet Osmani Medical College, reports our correspondent Nadim Hossain.
On June 12, two more doctors, one from Bangladesh Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) and another from the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, died of Covid-19.
