A total of 21 officials from the Department of Social Services have been infected with coronavirus while performing duties across the country.
“All of the infected officials are undergoing treatment at home and several hospitals across the country,” UNB reported quoting a press release on Tuesday.
The Social Services Department has been working under the Ministry of Social Welfare at the district and upazila level.
The press release said under the social safety net programme, the department has distributed various allowances of Tk26.5 crore among 8.09 million people until the month of June.
Besides, the department has distributed food assistance and cash money among 276,673 people in Chattogram, Dhaka, Rangpur, Barishal, Khulna, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Sylhet divisions including some in Dhaka City.
Health authorities have so far confirmed 68,504 coronavirus case and 930 deaths from Covid-19 disease.
