The condition of Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury remains unchanged as he is suffering from Covid-19 pneumonia.
Gonoshasthaya Kendra Public Relations Officer (PRO) Forhad Hossain delivered the update on Dr Zafrullah's health on Monday, reports UNB.
Quoting Brig Dr Mamun Mustafiz, Forhad said Dr Zafrullah has been provided with adequate oxygen and antibiotics for recovery. He has also been given regular dialysis and chest physiotherapy.
The Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder is now able to eat on his own, while His blood pressure and other clinical conditions are stable, according to the PRO.
Earlier on Thursday, the condition of Dr Zafrullah’s health deteriorated slightly and he developed breathing complications.
He has been receiving treatment at Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital in Dhaka's Dhanmondi area, under the supervision of Brig Dr Mamun Mustafiz and Dr Najib.
Dr Zafrullah, also a freedom fighter, underwent coronavirus testing with the kit developed by Gonoshasthaya Kendra, which found him to be Covid-19 positive on May 25.
Four days later, an RT-PCR test at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) confirmed the diagnosis.
He has been given plasma therapy thrice to help strengthen his immune system in a bid to beat the virus.
