Former chief info commissioner and his family test positive for Covid-19

M Golam Rahman, a former chief information commissioner, has tested positive for Covid-19 along with four of his family members.

All of his family members are self-isolating at home, excluding his wife, as she was taken to Bangladesh Specialized Hospital after her condition worsened. 

She will undergo plasma therapy, Rahman, also a former professor at Dhaka University’s Mass Communication and Journalism Department informed the media on Friday.

Their maid has also tested positive for coronavirus infection.

Initially, his wife tested positive for Covid-19, thereafter samples of other family members were also tested, Rahman said.

M Golam Rahman served as the chief information commissioner from 2016 to 2018.

He also served as the chairman of the board of directors of state-run news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), and as the pro-vice-chancellor of Daffodil International University.
