28 people have been newly infected by Covid-19 in Cox’s Bazar and of them eight are Rohingyas.
A total of 174 samples were tested on Friday, of which 34 came out positive. Other than the 28 people, the rest 6 were follow up tests for Covid-19 patients.
Samples of 26 Rohingyas were tested, of which 8 came out positive, taking the number of coronavirus infected Rohingyas to 21.
Of the newly infected patients, two were from Sadar upazila, 19 from Chakaria, one from Pekua, one from Ramu and five from Moheshkhali.
Dr Anupam Barua, professor at Cox’s Bazar Medical College and Samsu Doha, Health Coordinator of Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC) confirmed the matter on Friday evening.
A total of 4,793 tests were conducted at the lab of Cox’s Bazar Medical College in the last 51 days.
Out of them, 345 tested positive for Covid-19.
18 of the cases are in Moheshkhali, 9 in Teknaf, 36 in Ukhiya, 5 in Ramu, 106 in Chakaria, 90 in Cox’s Bazar Sadar,1 in Kutubdiia and 27 in Pekua. Along with these numbers, there are 21 Rohingyas, and the others are from Bandarban and Chittagong’s Sitakunda, Lohagora and Satkania areas.
