So far, 1,429 policemen have tested positive for Covid-19 in Bangladesh, of whom 708 belong to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
Another 2,814 policemen are now under home and institutional quarantine, according to police headquarters on Friday morning.
Meanwhile, 472 policemen are in isolation and 98 have recovered from the disease.
To date, six policemen -- five worked for DMP and another for the Special Branch -- have died of the coronavirus.
Police have also been working tirelessly to enforce the lockdown to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, beside their daily routine work to keep the country safe.
Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 positive policemen continues to rise everyday as they perform their daily duties.
Top officials of various police units are working round the clock to ensure saline and medical care for the infected policemen, and are distributing nutritious food items, dried food, and seasonal fruits, to restore their physical fitness.
DMP’s Assistant Commissioner (media) Mofizur Rahman Palash said senior officials are ensuring the health, accommodation and additional facilities for infected policemen and are always keeping in touch with their families.
