Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a dealer of Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) from Mirzapur, Tangail for illegally hoarding government rice.
The arrestee, Abul Bashar, proprietor of M/S Abul Bashar Traders was fined TK1 lakh and his dealership was cancelled after finding evidence of his corruption, confirmed Abu Naim, company commander of RAB-12.
"We were following his unlawful activities for a long time and when we made a drive to his godown on Saturday, we found a storage 2,640 kgs of government rice, which he was hoarding illegally in order to sell those for more price, said Naim.
"We immediately arrested him and cancelled his dealership. A case has also been filed in this regard," the RAB official added.
