14 of a joint family have been infected with the deadly coronavirus in Dhaka.
Chawkbazar police station Inspector (operation) Muhammad Daluar Hossain confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Tuesday.
“The results of them being Covid-19 positive came today [Tuesday]. There were 17 members in the family. The father of the family died recently with mild symptoms of coronavirus, but he was not tested for the virus.
“Of those alive, 14 have tested Covid-19 positive. Two family members are free of the virus.”
“This family lives in a building on the Haji Ballu road in Lalbagh which we have locked down.
“The infected family members are now in quarantine in the building,” he added.
As of Tuesday, Bangladesh has confirmed 3,382 coronavirus cases with the death toll rising to 110 after nine new fatalities were reported.
The fast spreading Covid-19 has so far killed 173,000 people in more than 200 countries and territories.
