An assistant professor of the Urology Department at Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) has tested positive for coronavirus.
The tests confirmed his infection on Saturday.
Confirming the matter, KMCH Principal Dr Abdul Ahad said the doctor reported fever and throat ache earlier.
Asked about shifting the infected to the specialized hospital prepared for coronavirus patients in the city, the principal said he will be treated at the rest house of the hospital where he lives.
At least six other physicians of the rest house were also directed to stay there until further instruction, he added.
A total of 50 samples were tested on Saturday at the KMCH laboratory; among them, only the assistant professor’s sample tested positive.
On April 13, a sexagenarian man, who returned after attending a Tablighi congregation, tested positive for coronavirus in the city's Karimnagar area.
Bangladesh has so far reported 84 deaths from Covid-19 and 2,144 infections.
