Leaders of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) are concerned about the safety of journalists as 16 journalists, including nine in Dhaka alone, have been infected with coronavirus so far.
The DUJ leaders on Friday expressed several of their concerns, reports UNB.
In a statement, DUJ President Quddus Afrad and General Secretary Sajjad Alam Khan Tapu said journalists, along with their family members, are getting infected with coronavirus but they continue to fulfil their professional duties risking their lives.
They urged the media outlet owners to clear the dues owed to journalists including salaries for the month of March.
The journalist leaders also said they will inform the authorities concerned and take the next course of action if salaries for March are not paid by the 3rd week of April.
